My HP dv2000 computer turns on and just the black screen with the HP logo comes up?
I have tried to push esc,F10, F11, to try and get to another screen but the computer just seems to do its own thing and the screen goes black again on its own and then the black screen with HP logo comes back again and it just loops like that over and over and finally will completely shut down after several minutes. Any help is appreciated!! I had considered buying a new hard drive... Could that be the problem? Any temp solutions? Thanks!
Before you buy another hard drive, remove your existing one. See if the looping stops. It should boot as far as the network boot agent.
OR, remove the hard drive, and leave a bootable CD in the optical drive. It can be Memtest86 http://www.memtest86.com , it can be a LiveCD of a version of Linux, like Linux Mint http://www.linuxmint.com but at any rate, see if you can boot your laptop to a CD. If you remove the hard drive, and it still just loops and it won't boot to a disc, then you KNOW it is NOT the hard drive.
