What's the best media to color the non-glossy side of poster paper with?
I want to make a poster to hang on my wall! I've already used pencil to sketch a detailed outline on the non-glossy side of a poster paper (the kind you buy at drugstores) and am debating on what kind of media to color with. I'm hesitant to use colored pencil (it'll take too long) or watercolor (don't know how that would react with the paper).
I have been using color markers for many years. I gave up "wet work" almost entirely when I discovered how versatile these pens were, and how many colors were available.
I'm not talking about the few colors you can find hanging on a rack at Walgreens. I'm talking about the HUNDREDS of color markers you can only find at art supply and hobby shops. These are usually permanent, but one can blend colors, and build up layers of pigment to work up some very professional looking effects.
They work VERY well on drawing paper, with only a tiny bit of "bleeding," but work even better on both sides of poster board.
Practice a bit on other papers before you start on your final poster. It takes just a little practice to get the hang of applying the pigment in just the right amount for the effects You Want.
Easy clean up, too. Just put the caps back on.
